Samsung design some great looking sets and the quality is always very good as is the price, the Samsung LE32R87BD is no different aesthetically pleasing and sub £700 it is another great TV from this maker. For connectivity there are 2 Scarts and 3 HDMI, it is HD ready with a resolution of 1366 x 768, colours are dynamic, black levels are good and the picture clear and crisp. Samsung have always been a leader in the LCD market and for the price this is a great TV, it does have one or two little draw backs as most do but few are as good as this at the price, Samsung have made another great addition to their budget TVs I actually saw this one in the Dixons LCD TV section.

This 32in LCD is an excellent example of what can be achieved by Hitachi it was one I saw in the Comet LCD TV, sub £1000.00 it is a fantastic TV including the design and looks, packed with everything you could want from a LCD TV it is definitely one you should consider. The resolution is 1366 x 768 and is HD ready with both analogue and digital tuners, there are 3 Scarts of which 2 are RGB and there are 2 HDMI connections. It has Hitachi’s picture master HD processor built in to give a better picture and viewing angles. The picture has excellent quality and clarity showing superior colours and deep blacks and the sound is fabulous too, a five out of five score for a LCD TV that is available from many sources.

High end plasma TVs have a lot to offer but can be expensive, LG have come into this end of the market with the LG 50PG6000 Plasma TV, what does this set offer, superb HD images for approximately £1000, this is a whopping 50in TV at a fantastic price. It is widely available so it should not be difficult to find one you could try your local dixons lcd tv and plasma section, the 1920 x 1080 resolution is full HD in all it’s glory, it has only 2 Scarts 1 being RGB but 3 HDMI connections, twin tuners analogue and digital ready for the change over, it is also a great looking TV and will astound you not only with it’s size and looks but also with the clarity of the picture, the vivid colours and good depth, it handles blacks as a plasma in this range would and is a great addition to the plasma series, highly recommended it is worth every penny of the price tag.

The technology that has driven LCD and Plasma TV’s is always getting better, these TVs are widely avaible in the high street abd can be found in some places you may not expect, the Debenhams LCD TV section quite suprised me but it goes to show they are every where, the HD revolution will continue until it is the normal standard, the limits to size of standard TV’s was down to the weight of a set the thickness of glass over the vacuum inside, with LCD and Plasma the limit is purely down to the ability to make one panel a certain size without loss of clarity and resolution, at the moment the biggest tv is 103in which is huge by any comparison. All modern sets are HD ready meaning they have the ability to show a high definition picture, the battle between HD and Blu-ray has a winner and it seems the standard will be Sony’s Blu-ray offering DVD’s with outstanding picture detail and clarity, the number of films being released on the Blu-ray format is increasing daily and although they are considerably more expensive to buy the prices are all ready dropping and at the moment are comparable with the first DVD discs approx £20.00 to £27.00.

There are many player available and I will not go into them today,  the prices of players are coming down and are quite affordable and the quality including better features are getting better, now that the format war is over we are sure to see many more manufacturers bringing out out more and better models, this alone will start to drive the prices down and for the consumer this is always a good thing. The pairing of a Blu-ray player and HD TV, Plasma or LCD is a match made in heaven and no matter how someone describes the difference between HD and standard pictures the only way to actually grasp the enormous difference is to experience it yourself.

Philips have always made great TV’s and have in many ways foreged ahead with picture quality, contrast and colours, the LCD and Plasma TV’s are no exception, the Philips 32PF5521D is a 32in screen LCD and cost approx £800 (this price depends on where you look), it is HD ready of course and has a resolution of 1366×768, it is equiped with 2 RGB scarts and 2 HDMI connections, unfortunately the tuner is only analogue and it is not widely available, the picture is very good as is the sound quality it also has some very good features, if I was to rate this LCD it would get a 4 out of 5 overall, it is a very good tv and has a lot to offer. This is available from a number of sources check your local Comet LCD TV centre.

The panasonic TX-32LXD700 LCD TV is an excellent TV the picture quality is five stars, the sound is excellent and the features and connections are excellent, it is of course HD ready with resolution of 1366×768, the tuner is analogue and digital and is one of the best that Panasonic make, it is readily available from most stores and you can see the Argos lcd tv section to compare different models.

The connections are excellent with 3 HDMI and 2 RGB scarts, the picture is crisp and clear and with every Panasonic you know that quality is always there.
